About

L.A.Y.L.A.H. Antirecords emerged from Belgium in 1984, a brief yet intense flicker in the industrial and experimental music spectrum. A Marc Monin venture, the label became a crucible for sonic alchemy, distilling avant-garde elements into a crystalline form over its five-year existence. With a mere eleven releases, each one was a deliberate incision into the experimental terrain, a sculptural etching of sound and provocation. The catalog, entirely on vinyl, was a procession of the era's most daring acts. Organum, with three entries, crafted auditory architecture from the liminal spaces of noise and ritual. Their release "In Extremis" stands as a testament to the process-driven ethos of the label. Current 93, appearing twice, delivered the haunting "Lashtal" and the enigmatic "Swastikas For Noddy", both weaving apocalyptic narratives through a tapestry of fractured folk and industrial soundscapes. Nurse With Wound's "Gyllenskold / Brained" further cemented the label's reputation for embracing the audacious, while Laibach's "Boji / Sila / Brat Moj" added a layer of interdisciplinary force to the label's offerings. Sol Invictus and Robert Haigh each contributed to the label's fractal identity, their works reverberating within the confines of L.A.Y.L.A.H.'s darkly curated vision. Though L.A.Y.L.A.H. Antirecords ceased operations in 1989, its impact remains etched in the annals of industrial music. A platform for transgressive sound, it was both a stage and a laboratory, nurturing the visceral and the experimental at a time when such endeavors were perilous and invigorating.
