About

KK Records emerged from the Dutch town of Zwijndrecht in 1987, a crucible of the experimental and the avant-garde. Over seven years, it became a hub for the ritualistic and textural, crafting a liminal space where sound was sculptural, each release an artifact of the process-driven ethos. Psychick Warriors Ov Gaia, with their four releases, encapsulated the label's ethos—ethereal and ritualistic, their "Ov Biospheres And Sacred Grooves: A Document Ov New Edge Folk Classics" a testament to the interdisciplinary dialogue between sound and space. Vomito Negro's "Save The World" and "Human (The Cross On Natures Back)" further defined KK's catalog with their dark, industrial textures. Format was critical: eleven LPs and four cassettes forged KK's identity, each medium a deliberate choice, each sonic landscape a crafted experience. The label was a regional beacon, its influence fractal, reaching beyond the borders of Zwijndrecht into the European avant-garde. Exquisite Corpse's "Dream Night Dance Music" and their tape "Kupuri / Chalice" continued the label's exploration of lo-fi soundscapes, while the collaboration between Hafler Trio and Thee Temple Ov Psychick Youth on "Present Brion Gysin's Dreamachine" expanded the label's interdisciplinary scope. KK Records, though its operational years were few, left an indelible mark with 17 releases, each a node in the network of experimental sound. A label that did not just release music, but cultivated an auditory experience, a process-driven exploration of the ethereal and the avant-garde.
