Situation Two emerged in 1981, an exploratory child of the Beggars Banquet family, birthed by Peter Kent and christened with a nod to Bauhaus's erstwhile managers, Situation 1. In this liminal space, the label carved a distinct niche, a sculptural playground for atmospheric textures and abstract rhythms. Over its eight-year arc, Situation Two became an incubator for the darkly poetic, a subterrain for voices like Fields Of The Nephilim, whose ritualistic "Moonchild" and "Psychonaut" resonated with an eerie magnetism. Southern Death Cult's "Moya" cut through the haze with a primal urgency, while Red Lorry Yellow Lorry's "Blow" delivered minimalist soundscapes wrapped in stark, throbbing intensity. Nyam Nyam's "Hope Of Heaven" offered a more subdued, yet equally compelling exploration of conceptual themes, a sonic evolution etched into the grooves of its vinyl LP. The label's format preference for LPs and 12-inch singles was deliberate, allowing the music's atmospheric density room to breathe and expand.
