About
Loop was an influential British experimental rock and noise band that emerged in the late 1980s. The group specialized in dense, guitar-driven soundscapes that blended elements of krautrock, psychedelia, and industrial noise with hypnotic, repetitive structures. Their early work established them as key figures in the experimental underground music scene of the era. The band released several studio albums throughout the early 1990s, including their self-titled 1991 LP and the critically acclaimed A Gilded Eternity from 1990, both showcasing their signature approach to layered, drone-influenced compositions. Their debut Fade Out, released in 1988, introduced their distinctive sonic aesthetic to wider audiences. Beyond their studio recordings, Loop's John Peel Sessions from 1987-90, compiled on Wolf Flow, document their evolution during a formative period. The group's work has been recognized for its contribution to post-punk experimentation and influence on subsequent generations of noise and experimental musicians throughout the 1990s and beyond.
