Cling Film-Records emerged from Belgium's fertile experimental soil, a brief yet intense burst of cassette-driven creativity between 1996 and 1998. In this liminal space, the label sculpted a microcosm of abstract soundscapes, each tape a fractal piece of a larger auditory puzzle. Klangkrieg and Noise-Maker's Fifes, both featured on two releases, became central figures in this auditory experiment, their work weaving dense tapestries of lo-fi production and tape-based soundscapes. The catalog, though concise with 11 cassettes, is a study in interdisciplinary exploration. Troum's "Dreaming Muzak" (1998) and The Hearing Trumpet's "Llallopp" (1997) stand out as process-driven works, transforming field recordings into otherworldly narratives. Meanwhile, M.S.B.R.'s "303 Holy Mountain Electronixx" (1996) and its counterpart MSBR offer a visceral dive into chaotic electronixx, a sonic evolution that challenges and invigorates.
