About
Uncommunity emerged from the shadows of the United Kingdom, a clandestine force within the industrial soundscape from 1983 to 2013. Tim Gane, the project's constant, navigated the sonic terrain with a mechanical precision that found its home on cassette. With 21 cassette releases, Uncommunity carved a niche in the underground, where harsh soundscapes met relentless tape manipulation and field recordings. Their sound was dystopian, functional, an echo of desolate landscapes and percussive power electronics. The early years, captured in the 2013 release "Black Dwarf Wreckordings '83-'85," are a testament to their raw beginnings. These recordings, alongside significant works like "Brutality Of Fact" (1984) and "Doktrine" (1987), reveal a group unafraid to engage with dark atmospheres and the relentless grind of industrial noise. Freedom In A Vacuum and Black Dwarf (W)recordings were frequent collaborators, platforms that embraced their abrasive aesthetic. Uncommunity's palette was mechanical, its rhythms metronomic, a relentless pursuit of sonic evolution. Their sound resonated with contemporaries like The New Blockaders and Mauthausen Orchestra, sharing a commitment to the underground ethos. In this domain, mainstream appeal was irrelevant, and the focus remained on creating environments where the harsh and the obscure thrived.
