About

Tasaday operated in the shadows of Italy's industrial underbelly from 1982 to 1988, forging a distinctive presence through unconventional formats and aural architecture. Their sound was a fusion of dissonant soundscapes and tape manipulation, interlacing field recordings with abrasive textures. Paolo Cantù's electric guitar work punctuated the sonic landscape, adding a mechanical edge to their compositions. Their debut vinyl, "L'Animale Profondo," emerged from the Azteco Records factory line in 1986, encapsulating their raw, dystopian ethos. Tasaday's format preference was eclectic, venturing beyond traditional releases; two magazines, "Versücher" and "Overview and letter to Haufen," offered textual and visual dimensions to their auditory experimentation. The VHS release, "Tempo scaduto Time's off Bloom - Mezzago (MI) 30.06.96," a collaboration with Centrale Dell'Arte, showcased their multimedia prowess, a visual counterpart to their relentless audio barrage. Live recordings like "Live 83/84" on cassette documented the group's metronomic live performances, a relentless assault that blurred the lines between music and industrial labor. Their network of labels, including Technological Feeling and Multiple Configuration, positioned Tasaday among contemporaries like Zona Industriale and Officine Schwartz, carving a niche within Italy's industrial milieu.
