About
Lyke Wake emerged from Italy's industrial shadows between 1981 and 1988, casting haunting soundscapes across ten cassette releases. Their sonic journey, recorded under the Aseptic Noise label, fused mechanical drones with psychic dissonance. "The Noise Of Dream" (1988) stands as a pivotal release, enveloping listeners in a dystopian dreamscape. Live performances, such as "Live At Diamond Dogs 20.3.1987 Napoli," captured their relentless energy, an auditory spectacle of noise and intensity. The thematic exploration of suffering found a voice in "Let The Suffering Grow Inside" (1985), a work steeped in percussive echoes and shadowy atmospheres. This was a band that understood the functional use of sound as an instrument of emotional excavation. Earlier works like "Clots Of Noise" (1984) and "The Dark Sea Of Pain" (1984) laid the foundation for their evolution, each release a metronomic step into deeper realms of industrial noise. Their collaborations with labels like Aseptic Noise and Misty Circles positioned them within a network of like-minded artists, including Zona Industriale and Sigillum S, sharing a commitment to raw, evocative soundscapes.
