About
F:A.R. emerged as a mechanical force in the American industrial scene from 1948 to 1990. Through a relentless output of nine releases, they crafted dystopian soundscapes from the manipulation of tape and vinyl. Their work was a clinical exploration of sound, marked by harsh atmospheres and the incorporation of German audiobooks as an auditory texture. Releases like "Passi Uguali" (1990) on Minus Habens Records and "Presto I Topi Verranno A Cercarci" (1987) on Amen - THX 1138 cemented their role in the industrial underground. F:A.R.'s sonic evolution is captured in their tapes, such as "Frammenti" (1986) and "Final Alternative Relation" (1982), the latter self-released and distributed through Technological Feeling. These recordings document their innovative approach to tape manipulation and conceptual narratives, a functional sound that aligns with contemporaries like La Nomenklatur and Het Zweet. Their collaborations with labels such as ADN and Technological Feeling underscore a networked existence, a mechanical synergy with fellow industrial pioneers.
