DNA
Experimental industrial and noise project from the late 1970s-early 1980s underground avant-garde scene.
About
DNA was an experimental and industrial music project active during the late 1970s and early 1980s. Emerging from the underground avant-garde scene, the group produced work characterized by harsh electronics, noise textures, and unconventional compositional approaches typical of the post-industrial era. Their debut album You & You, released in 1978, established their aesthetic within the growing experimental music landscape. The project remained active through the early 1980s, documenting live performances such as the 1981 concert recording from Theatro Cristallo in Milan, which captured their avant-garde sensibilities in a performance context. Their 1981 album A Taste of DNA further developed their sonic vocabulary. DNA's output reflected the broader experimental and noise music movements of the period, contributing to underground scenes that valued sonic experimentation over conventional song structures. Though relatively obscure, their recordings represent an important document of 1980s avant-garde music production and the industrial underground's formative years.
