A sonic laboratory, UBUIBI was deeply intertwined with the experimental ethos of Big City Orchestra, whose sculptural approach to tape manipulation and field recordings dominated the label's releases. With an archive holding 30 releases, 29 of which were cassettes, the label reveled in the tactile intimacy of the format — a preference that highlighted the process-driven exploration of sound over polished production.
