Mirrordot, a liminal presence in the 1980s experimental soundscape, operated as both a mirror and a dot on the horizon of auditory exploration. Its entire catalog exists in the intimate, tactile world of cassette tapes, a decision reflecting the label’s dedication to process-driven and sculptural sound assemblages. Across nine years, Mirrordot served as the primary vessel for the Legendary Pink Dots, whose releases like "Chemical Playschool 1 & 2" and "Traumstadt II" carved out a niche of lo-fi production and tape manipulation. Edward Ka-Spel, the voice and vision behind the Dots, also released "Lyvv China Doll" under Mirrordot's aegis, a solo foray into conceptual soundscapes that blurred the lines between the personal and the collaborative. These tapes, often dense with field recordings and esoteric narratives, functioned as interdisciplinary explorations of sound and meaning, challenging the boundaries of conventional music-making.
