About
In the ephemeral landscape of the late '80s, De Koude Oorlog! emerged as a fleeting yet fervent beacon of experimental sound. Born from the icy margins of sonic exploration, this label operated in a compact window from 1986 to 1988, every release a sculptural artifact of magnetic tape. With all 11 releases residing in the cassette format, De Koude Oorlog! embraced the liminal qualities of lo-fi production and abstract soundscapes, crafting a tactile intimacy in each limited edition. The label’s roster, a kaleidoscope of collaboration and experimentation, included the likes of Szarkov with their conceptual opus "A Message!: The Industrial Movement" and the enigmatic Thae Collective’s "To Disappear When Time Has Come." Every release was an interdisciplinary dialogue, a snapshot of process-driven creativity. The 1987 series marked a prolific period, with "Where The Hell Is Sweden?" capturing the fractured essence of its era and "Zeewater Is Niet Vies ! & Blodskamsbrudgum" offering a confluence of Dikyl Brobojo and Arvid Tuba's avant-garde visions. "Through Time And Trouble" by Dikyl Brobojo in 1988 stands as a testament to the label's exploratory core, a release that encapsulates the ethos of De Koude Oorlog! — a raw, unrefined dive into the recesses of experimental sound. It's a catalog that whispers its obscurity, yet resonates with the determined pulse of those who seek the unknown.
