About

Years On Earth emerged from the shadows of the United Kingdom's industrial scene in 1981, crafting tape-based compositions that resonated with the mechanical and the dystopian. Their sound was a relentless exploration of mutant textures and lo-fi production, an unwavering commitment to the percussive rhythms of functional soundscapes. Under the banners of Calypso Now and their own label, they released a series of cassettes, each a snapshot of their evolving auditory landscape. Releases like "Site" (1984) and "Worlds Apart" (1983) captured the raw essence of their creative process, a metronomic dance of analog machinery and ambient resonance. The archival "The Structure Of Chance" (2012) on VINYL ON DEMAND / VOD-RECORDS presented these textural experiments to a new generation, preserving the industrial ethos in a vinyl format. Years On Earth's sound was not mainstream, nor did it strive to be. It existed in a network of like-minded innovators, a collective murmur of the underground.
