About

Two Daughters is an experimental music project active during the late 1970s and early 1980s, representing a significant presence in the underground noise and dark ambient scene of that era. The project's work is characterized by abstract soundscapes and experimental composition techniques typical of post-industrial music practices. Their self-titled debut cassette was released in 1980 on Methane Music, establishing their presence in the emerging cassette underground network. A subsequent release, Gloria / Kiss The Cloth, appeared on the influential United Dairies label in 1987, a key platform for experimental and industrial music. Two Daughters' recordings from the formative period 1979-1981 were later compiled and released on vinyl by VOD Records in 2019, introducing their archival work to contemporary audiences and affirming their historical importance within experimental music circles. The project's aesthetic aligns with broader developments in post-punk and industrial experimentation, contributing to underground music discourse during the transitional period between early industrial and noise music's emergence as distinct genres.
