About
In the shadowed recesses of the late 1980s and 1990s, This Window emerged from the United Kingdom, crafting aural landscapes that seemed to breathe with a life of their own. The project unfolded a narrative of haunting soundscapes and atmospheric compositions, etched onto the delicate medium of cassette tape. Each release is a step through a glacial corridor, each layer of sound a whisper from a cavernous past. Beginning with the embryonic echoes of 'Hope' in 1988, a subterranean journey commenced, weaving through the ritualistic depths of 'Jude the Obscure' and the evolving textures of 'Extraction' in 1989. These tapes found homes with labels like EE Tapes and Old Europa Cafe, creating a liminal network of experimental sound aficionados. The evolution continued, culminating in the resonant 'Extraction 2' in 1997, a final dispatch from a project that seemed to map the bottomless spaces between silence and sound. This Window, akin to contemporaries like Liquid G. and Veil of Thorns, sculpted a niche within the dark ambient realm, leaving behind a legacy captured in the rustling winds of tape reels and the distant hum of forgotten machines.
