About

The Deep Freeze Mice emerged from Leicester's nocturnal landscape in 1979. Alan Jenkins, Sherree Lawrence, and Mick Bunnage orchestrated a peculiar new wave, subverting pop structures with quirky lyrical themes and spectral arrangements. Their releases, like "War, Famine, Death, Pestilence And Miss Timberlake" (1987, Cordelia Records) and "Saw A Ranch House Burning Last Night" (1985, Cordelia Records), offer a skeletal soundscape, where lo-fi production meets experimental song structures. These elements, paired with distinctive vocal styles, forge a path less traveled. Their catalog extends beyond vinyl: "Live in Switzerland 1985" (In der Tat) captures the analog warmth of their performances, while the magazine releases "If It's Worth Doing" and "If it's Worth Doing, it's worth Overdoing! - Songs and Poems" underscore their boundary-defying ethos. The Mice's spectral presence lasted until 1989, leaving behind a trail of enigmatic recordings that continue to haunt the fringes of the new wave scene.
