Working primarily with cassette-based releases, Tischler developed a body of work characterized by atmospheric, cinematic compositions that blur the boundaries between ambient music, industrial soundscapes, and experimental noise. His "Cinematics" series, initially self-released on cassette between 1985 and 1987, established his aesthetic of immersive, narrative-driven soundscapes with evocative titles like "Sultan in Oman," "Gorgons & Gargoyles," and "Invisible Cities." These early works demonstrated a commitment to creating textured, layered compositions that prioritized mood and imagery over conventional song structures. Tischler's collaboration with Blair Petrie on the first Cinematics release highlighted his openness to creative partnership.
