About

Solanaceae Tau operated from the shadows of Germany's industrial scene between 1986 and 1996. Each of their nine cassette releases serves as a tactile artifact of analog warmth and spectral soundscapes. Their work, dense with ritualistic elements and minimalist synth textures, conjures an austere, spectral atmosphere. Releases on Nihilistick Noise, such as "Teutonic Dances And Pagan Rituals" (1988) and "Danse Macabre At The Garden Of Delight" (1992), explore haunting atmospheres with a skeletal precision. The project's tape-based soundscapes found a natural home on labels like IRRE Tapes and Music & Elsewhere. These collaborations positioned Solanaceae Tau within a network of experimental German acts like Zombies Under Stress and Maria Zerfall, each sharing a penchant for the nocturnal and the uncanny. Yet, Solanaceae Tau maintained a distinct identity, a spectral presence amidst their peers. "Club Des Haschischins" (1996) marked the project's final release, encapsulating a decade's worth of analog experimentation and sonic evolution. Their output, consistent in its format and aesthetic, remains a testament to a time when music was crafted with a cold elegance, echoing the industrial ethos of the era.
