Slime emerges from the liminal space of late 70s Germany, where political ferment meets raw punk energy. Between 1979 and 1984, Sven Räther's bass lines and Diggen’s incisive vocals cut through the noise, crafting an aggressive soundscape steeped in anti-fascist rhetoric. Their self-titled debut on Raubbau and the confrontational Yankees Raus on Aggressive Rockproduktionen bore witness to their unyielding DIY spirit. Live recordings, like the visceral Live Pankehallen 21.01.84, capture the unrestrained energy that Slime brought to every performance, a fractal of chaotic presence. Slime's discography, a blend of cassette and vinyl, epitomizes a process-driven approach to punk, where each release is an artifact of its moment. The band's ethos resonates with contemporaries like Alarmsignal and Kotzreiz, yet Slime's political charge remains uniquely sculptural, confronting injustices head-on. With Michael Mayer-Poes and Christian Mevs sculpting guitar lines since 1980, their sound remains a sculptural echo of defiance.
