Scattered Order
Scattered Order, an Australian post-punk band from 1979, fuses experimental rock with synth-driven landscapes, redefining the underground sound.
About
Scattered Order emerged from the Australian post-punk landscape in 1979, a band born from the collision of Mitch Jones’s vocals and bass with Michael Tee’s guitar and synths. Their sound — an ecstatic, saturated fusion of experimental rock and synth-driven landscapes — pulsated through the underground, reverberating across labels like M Squared and Ink Records. Each release, from the tectonic "Prat Culture" to the chaotic "King Of Blip," cemented their reputation for obliterating expectations with total abandon. Line-up changes were not mere shifts but seismic events that reshaped their sonic topography. Drusilla Johnson's arrival in 1983 with her synthesizer and vocals added a new layer of complexity, intertwining with Jones's own personal narrative as they later married. By 1998, with "Free Sandy Nelson" on Rather Be Vinyl, Scattered Order had become a cornerstone of Australia's avant-garde noise. Their hiatus post-1998 left a void, their absence felt in the echoing silence of the scene until their reemergence in 2011, marking a return that was as unpredictable as their music. Amidst all this, Shane Fahey lingered, a constant amidst the chaos, his role undefined yet undeniably present.
