About

Psychodrama emerged from the United States in 1981, a relentless force within the underground industrial scene. Brett Kerby, Rob Lippert, and Leslie Singer crafted a soundscape of harsh noise and aggressive beats, capturing the mechanical heart of a dystopian America. With six cassette releases, they operated in the gritty Chicago underground, self-releasing tapes that challenged norms and provoked thought. Their work, disseminated through labels like audiofile Tapes and Beast 666 Tapes, was a visceral confrontation with society's darker undercurrents. Traumarama (1985) set the tone, a percussive assault that paved the way for more politically charged works. The release of "Nigger" in 1987 on S.J. Organisation was a bold statement, an unfiltered reflection of racial and social tensions. "Large Whisky Drinkin Men" (1989) on Beast 666 Tapes marked a culmination of their sound, a metronomic march through the industrial wasteland. Connections to artists like Snypaz and Black Pirate Militia highlight their network within the scene, weaving Psychodrama into the fabric of industrial music's evolution.
