Penga is an experimental and industrial music project that emerged during the late 1980s underground cassette culture. Active primarily in the early 1990s, the project specialized in avant-garde soundscapes that bridged noise, dark ambient, and installation-based composition. Between 1989 and 1992, Penga released four works through Alternate Media Tapes, a label associated with the experimental tape underground. Their output included "Music From The Beast," "Sunchip," "As," and "Installation Music," each exploring unconventional sonic territories through lo-fi production and conceptual frameworks. The project's emphasis on "Installation Music" suggests an interest in spatial and environmental audio design beyond conventional listening formats. Operating within the DIY ethos of independent cassette distribution, Penga contributed to the broader experimental noise and dark ambient movements of the period, though documentation on the project remains limited.
