About

France, late 1970s. No Unauthorized emerged amidst the analog warmth of minimal synth. The brothers Madrange, Christian and Michel, crafted spectral soundscapes — haunting, austere. Their output, primarily on cassette, echoed through the underground, distributed by labels like Fraction Studio and Black Box. Releases such as "Infection" and "Invasion" (featuring Esruk) are skeletal sketches of lo-fi production. Dark synth textures weave through these tapes, creating nocturnal atmospheres meant for shadowed rooms. Throughout their existence, 1979 to 1987, No Unauthorized remained just outside the periphery, contributing to the French industrial scene with a precise, experimental ethos. Their sound aligned with contemporaries like Bene Gesserit and X-Ray Pop, yet retained a distinct, cold elegance. Their collaboration on "Invasion" underscores their experimental nature, while the haunting melodies of "Exorcisme" linger like echoes in an empty corridor.
