About
Mygel is an obscure experimental and industrial project active during the 1980s, emerging from the underground cassette culture that defined the era's DIY noise and experimental music scenes. The project released three cassette recordings between 1983 and 1986, documenting a stark, uncompromising approach to sound design and composition. Their early works, "Mygel i Babylon" and "Mygel i Metall," both released in 1983 on the Selbstmord Organización label, established their aesthetic within the minimal industrial and dark ambient territories. The later release "Mygel's Mezzly" (1986) on Konduktör Rekords continued this trajectory. Operating within the limited distribution networks of cassette-based underground music, Mygel contributed to the broader experimental and noise music movements that flourished outside mainstream commercial channels. While remaining relatively obscure, the project represents the broader landscape of European industrial and experimental music during the 1980s, characterized by lo-fi production values, abstract compositional approaches, and a commitment to non-commercial artistic expression.
