La Otra Cara De Un Jardín
La Otra Cara De Un Jardín is a Spanish power electronics project from the 1980s known for their abrasive soundscapes and cassette releases.
About
La Otra Cara De Un Jardín — the other side of a garden. But don't expect tranquility. Active from 1981 to 1986, this Spanish project unleashed abrasive soundscapes across the cassette underground. Tape hiss and distortion, not melody, were their tools. Releases like "Brikollage" (1986) on Zeal SS and "Breve Jornada Por Un Jardin Cerrado" (1985) on EGK pushed the limits of what tape could carry. Raw, unfiltered power electronics. Cassette was their canvas, not just a format. Their self-released tapes, like "Noche Gruesa" (1985), showed a dedication to DIY ethics, an unrelenting commitment to control over message and medium. In a landscape dominated by polished studio productions, La Otra Cara De Un Jardín's preference for the tactile physicality of cassette stood out. Distorted vocals, harsh soundscapes, and ambient textures formed a visceral cocktail that challenged listeners to confront the edge. Similar in spirit to Comando Bruno and Linea Tactica, yet uniquely their own, they carved a niche in the 1980s Spanish industrial scene, leaving a legacy that's raw and significant. Few listened, but those who did, felt it deeply.
