About

Klinik emerged from Belgium's industrial scene in 1981, an ensemble weaving dark synth textures with the relentless rhythm of machine beats. Marc Verhaeghen led the project through a decade defined by percussive landscapes and dystopian soundscapes, resonating through the underground circuits. Releases like "Pain And Pleasure" (1986) and "Fear" (1987) on Antler Records captured the group's mechanical essence — a series of calculated sonic assaults articulated through cold electronics and metronomic pulses. The collaborative spirit of Klinik saw Dirk Ivens and Eric Van Wonterghem join the ranks in the mid-'80s, contributing to seminal works like "Sabotage" (1985) and "Plague" (1987). The duality of dark, atmospheric synths with functional, industrial beats positioned Klinik among contemporaries such as Front 242 and Dive, both essential players in the Belgian industrial tapestry. The late '80s brought further evolution. "Face To Face" (1988), packaged with a poster, and "Black Leather" (1990) on Antler-Subway, showcased a matured synthesis of experimental soundscapes and rhythmic intensity. These records, alongside others in their 14-release archive, cemented Klinik's role in shaping the industrial sound of the era.
