About

From the austere shadows of Lyon, In Aeternam Vale emerged in 1984. Laurent Prot's project captured the analog warmth and skeletal structure of minimal synth with a spectral presence. Releases such as "nouveau est arrivé" (1985) exemplified the raw aesthetic of the movement, while "Out of terror / Recovered flesh" (1989) showcased a mature sound on Organic Tapes. The tapes—seven in total—were distributed through labels like Émergence Du Refus and Garde Au Sol Production, cementing their role within the underground scene. Prot's work was defined by dark atmospheric soundscapes and driving synthesizer rhythms. Haunting vocal samples and experimental tape manipulations added depth, creating nocturnal compositions that lingered in the listener's mind. Though the project was active for a brief five years, it has left a lasting impression on the minimal synth landscape, akin to contemporaries such as Liaisons Dangereuses and Das Ding.
