Hagar The Womb
Hagar The Womb, a UK anarcho-punk band from 1980-1985, is known for their raw sound and politically charged female vocals.
About
Hagar The Womb erupted from the decayed streets of the UK, a force in the anarcho-punk realm from 1980 to 1985. Their sound — raw, politically charged — carried the grit of DIY production with female vocals slicing through the oppressive air. "The Word Of The Womb" and "The Time Is Nigh..The Hags Are Coming" echo as testaments to their insurgent ethos. Five tapes and a lone LP document their brief, fierce existence, recorded on labels like Mortarhate Records and Acid Rain Products. A collective voice, weaving experimental arrangements and hostile rhythms, they stood alongside contemporaries like Flowers In The Dustbin and Lost Cherrees. The early 1980s saw them self-release tapes that captured their unpolished energy, a time capsule of institutional defiance. In 2011, the Hags resurrected from hiatus, showing the enduring corrosion of their influence.
