Greater Than One, born in the sonic corridors of the United Kingdom in 1985, emerged as a relentless force in industrial soundscapes. Michael Wells and Lee Newman, the duo behind the name, crafted an eclectic aural experience, emphasizing experimental soundscapes and avant-garde production techniques. Their creations pulsated with rhythmic complexity, often weaving dark thematic elements into the fabric of their work. The band's early self-released cassette, Kill the Pädogogue (1985), set the tone for their unapologetically raw aesthetic. Their work with labels such as Kunst = Kapital and Side Effects further cemented their place in the industrial scene. Dance Of The Cowards (1988) and All The Masters Licked Me (1987) stand as testaments to their percussive exploration and functional sound design. Greater Than One's final known release, Duty & Trust (1991), was distributed through ROIR, marking the end of their recorded output under this name. Despite the lack of commercial triumph, the duo's legacy endures through the relentless mechanical rhythms and dystopian soundscapes that continue to resonate with industrial enthusiasts.
