Geisterfahrer was a German experimental and industrial music project active primarily during the late 1970s and 1980s. Emerging from the underground music scene, the project released a self-produced demo cassette in 1979 before securing label support through ZickZack Platten, a notable independent imprint associated with German experimental and post-punk music. Their early output, including the self-titled LP and Schatten Voraus (both 1980) and Fest Der Vielen Sinne (1981), was characterized by dark, abstract soundscapes that aligned with the broader European industrial and noise music movements of the era. The project's aesthetic emphasized experimental production techniques and avant-garde sensibilities reflective of the German underground scene.
