Fehlfarben
Fehlfarben, a pioneering NDW band from Düsseldorf, Germany, is known for their politically charged lyrics and synth-driven sound.
About
Fehlfarben emerged from Düsseldorf in 1979, a skeletal assembly of instruments and voices, each member precise in their contribution. Peter Hein, of Mittagspause fame, lent spectral vocals to this Neue Deutsche Welle entity, while Michael Kemner's bass and Uwe Bauer's drumming laid an austere foundation. Their sound, driven by synths and politically charged lyrics, bore the analog warmth of the Düsseldorf scene. Monarchie und Alltag (1980, Welt-Rekord) stands as a testament to their influence, a cold elegance that resonated through Germany's nocturnal soundscape. The release of 14 Tage in 1982 further cemented their place, an echo of the city's experimental pulse. Fehlfarben's catalog, predominantly on vinyl and cassette, reflects a DIY ethos, a commitment to raw, unpolished expression. The lineup fluctuated, yet the spirit remained untouched, a skeletal structure navigating through changing times.
