About

Die Welttraumforscher never needed an invitation. From the Swiss underground, their sound sculpts a world where lo-fi production meets the surreal. Born in 1981, they painted with cassette tape. Eight releases on tape. Two magazines. One LP. A discography that whispers more than it shouts. Werkstatt Wasserstadt (1999) marks their vinyl moment, a pivot on Das Moniflabel. But it's their tapes, like Reise nach Pretzelberg (1993) and Zwanzig Jahre auf dem Mond (1989), that define them. Each release is a sonic postcard from a place that doesn’t exist. Krautrock echoes through their work, but don’t get it twisted—this isn’t homage. It’s playful dissection. With Das Moniflabel, they crafted a legacy, nestled deep in the experimental scene. Like their fellow sonic travelers, Monokultur and Loopsel, they thrive in the margins. Small numbers, 7,888 listeners, yet each one a devotee. Die Welttraumforscher doesn't pander. Their sound remains an unrelenting exploration of the lo-fi landscape.
