About

Die Dorau und die Marinas were a German experimental and industrial music ensemble active during the early 1980s. Operating within the broader context of post-punk and industrial music emerging from Germany during this era, the group crafted avant-garde compositions characterized by unconventional instrumentation, abrasive textures, and conceptual approaches to sound. Between 1981 and 1983, they released four albums through the Ata Tak label and independent channels, including Blumen Und Narzissen and Fred Vom Jupiter, both issued in 1981, followed by Kleines Stubenmädchen and a self-titled conceptual work in the subsequent years. Their releases demonstrate an engagement with noise, performance art elements, and experimental aesthetics typical of the underground German music scene of the period. While remaining relatively obscure compared to their more prominent contemporaries, Die Dorau und die Marinas contributed to the diverse landscape of 1980s experimental music and the broader development of industrial and avant-garde sounds emerging from Germany during this creatively fertile decade.
