About
Deviation Social was the sound of dissent in early '80s America. Born from the underground, their noise was an assault. A brutal blend of harsh noise, distorted vocals, and textural soundscapes. From 1981 to 1985, they operated on the fringes, leaving a trail of raw tapes and one visceral LP through Ppresence Records. Each release a statement, each performance a confrontation. The Compilation Anthology (1985) is a brutal testament to their evolution. It features live recordings like At Anti Club: Los Angeles (1982), capturing the unfiltered energy they unleashed on stage. Tracks like Workforce / Deathwatch (1982) are exercises in feedback and found sound, pushing the listener to confront uncomfortable truths. Deviation Social embraced the cassette culture with ferocity. Five tapes and a lone vinyl, Tempus Purgatio Part 7 (1984), stand as relics of their commitment to the tangible. Physical media was their battlefield. They shared lineage with Factrix and Monte Cazazza, but carved their niche in the harsh noise spectrum.
