About

In the mechanical heart of Belgium's industrial scene, DDV — the alias of Danny Devos — emerged as a relentless force. Active from 1959 to 1986, DDV's work with Club Moral was both auditory and visceral. The tapes, like "Tragala Perro!" (1986) and "Live In Club Moral" (1983), are documents of percussive chaos and a fascination with the darker aspects of human nature. Devos's performances, captured in releases like "Performance Jan 1979 - Jun 1982," melded the dystopian with the corporeal, a testament to his enduring interest in body art and true crime. DDV's releases were largely disseminated through cassettes, a medium befitting the raw, unpolished nature of his soundscapes. These tapes served as vehicles for Devos's explorations into the industrial genre, where the boundary between noise and music blurred under the weight of functional, often brutal, sound. His work, alongside collaborators in Club Moral, helped shape a scene that was both geographically and sonically specific. The cassette culture in which DDV thrived was a network of like-minded artists, sharing an ethos of defiance and exploration.
