In the liminal spaces of Wien, Das Fröhliche Wohnzimmer and Zan Hoffman conjured an interdisciplinary dance of tape manipulation and found sounds. Between 1986 and 1994, their cassette releases like "Foolish Senile Bisons, Drunken" (1994, Zidslick) and "Senile Bisons Crying For Das Fröhliche Wohnzimmer" (1990, self-released) sculpted sonic landscapes where lo-fi aesthetics met improvisational fervor. The project's process-driven ethos embraced abstract compositions, crafting a sonic evolution free from mainstream constraints. These works exist as artifacts of the Wien experimental scene, a fractal testament to the interplay of sound and spontaneity.
