In the late shadowed alleys of the UK, Chaos Combo forged sonic landscapes from raw industrial noise and aggressive punk energy. Their tenure, 1979 to 1985, saw them emerging from the underground with a series of relentless cassette releases, collaborating with niche labels Funafuti Tapes and Trümmer Tapes. Their sound, a chaotic amalgam of improvisational noise and percussive fury, was captured in tapes like "Es Lebe Das Verbrechen" and "Klassiker Der Müllhalde". Each release a mechanical pulse, a dystopian rhythm resonating with tape collage techniques and the uncompromising grit of DIY ethos. Simon Greenham's vocals pierced through the abrasive textures laid down by Andy Farrier's guitar and Richard Potts' metronomic drumming. As lineups shifted, so did their sonic fabric, yet the core remained functional, relentless, and uncompromisingly industrial. Their work on formats, primarily cassette, speaks to a preference for raw, unrefined soundscapes, aligning them with the likes of Trama X and Gore/Hoer.
