Borghesia
Borghesia, a pioneering Old School EBM band from Slovenia, emerged in 1982 with a sound exploring dystopian themes and taboo imagery.
About
Borghesia emerged from the Slovenian underground in 1982, a product of the alternative theatre group Theatre FV-112/15. Their sound was a mechanical pulse, a relentless exploration of the dystopian and the forbidden. With Aldo Ivančić and Borut Kržišnik at the helm, Borghesia crafted an aesthetic that delved into the imagery of taboo and repression. Releases like "Ljubav Je Hladnija Od Smrti" (1985) on Dark Entries and "Escorts And Models" (1989) on Play It Again Sam Records solidified their place in the industrial and electronic body music scenes. Borghesia’s output, heavily tape-based, often captured the raw energy of live performances, such as "In Concerto A Torino" (1989). Their sound was percussive and functional, akin to contemporaries like Front 242 and The Klinik, yet infused with a uniquely Slovenian theatrical flair. This was industrial music as performance art, an auditory manifestation of the socio-political climate of the time. Their collaboration with Theatre FV-112/15 was not just background, but integral to their sonic evolution, weaving together elements of rock, electronic music, and performance art into a cohesive whole.
